Exploring Sardinia: Budoni, Santa Teresa and Pula
If you are planning your first visit to the island, we will give you some advice on what to see during your holiday in Sardinia, pointing out three of the most fascinating locations.
Budoni: The Heart of the East Coast
Budoni is home to some of the most beautiful beaches on the island.
Porto Ainu Beach offers crystal-clear water and an ideal environment for snorkelling. Porto Ottiolu is perfect for families, with a shallow, sandy seabed and a variety of services. Budoni beach stretches for almost 4 kilometres and offers fine, light-coloured sand, ideal for lovers of long walks by the sea. Sant’Anna Bay is a hidden gem ideal for those who want a less crowded beach with golden sand and crystal-clear waters. Matta ‘e Peru Beach is characterised by clear sand and transparent waters, surrounded by green vegetation and a pine forest. Sa Marina Beach, also known as La Spiaggia Rosa, can only be reached by sea or on foot and offers an authentic experience away from the crowds.
Santa Teresa: Enchanting Beaches and Authentic Flavours
Let’s move on to the northern part of the island, to Santa Teresa Gallura. This charming place is renowned for its spectacular beaches and delicious cuisine. Among the most beautiful is the famous Rena Bianca, with its fine white sand and crystal-clear waters.
Rena Majori, 8 km from Santa Teresa, surrounded by a pine forest and characterised by shallow waters, is ideal for families. Porto Pollo beach is loved by windsurfers for its constant wind, while Porto Liscia is perfect for those who love tranquillity. La Licciola is another beach not to be missed: surrounded by thick Mediterranean scrub, it is less crowded than the others. Finally, Cala Sambuco, wild and devoid of services, offers an authentic experience far from the chaos.
But Santa Teresa also offers a unique culinary experience: try the zuppa gallurese, a traditional dish made with bread, cheese and sheep broth, or delight in the Mazza frissa, a typical local cream made with cream and semolina.
Pula: Dreamy Beaches and Ancient History
Pula, in southern Sardinia, offers a unique mix of sea and culture all year round. You can explore the archaeological park of Nora, with remains of an ancient Phoenician, Punic and Roman city.
The beach of Nora welcomes you with its golden sand and crystal-clear sea, while the bay is home to the small church of Sant’Efisio, the site of the Sant’Efisio Festival every 3 May.
Moving eastwards you will find the beach of Su Guventeddu for kite and windsurfing, while to the west the coast of Santa Margherita di Pula will surprise you with its colours.
Among the unmissable beaches is Su Giudeu, with its sand dunes overlooking the turquoise sea.
Budoni, Santa Teresa and Pula are three perfect destinations for an unforgettable holiday in Sardinia. With their spectacular beaches, fascinating history and delicious cuisine, these resorts offer everything you need for an authentic island experience. All that remains is to wish you “a wonderful first visit to Sardinia and a safe journey!“
