Holiday in Stintino

Once a small fishing village, Stintino has now become a famous tourist destination known for its wonderful beaches, close to the Asinara Natural Park.
Its territory stretches along a promontory characterised by a rocky coastline on the sea on the western side and a low, sloping coastline in front of the island of Asinara on the eastern side.

The beaches

La Pelosa: this is the most well-known beach in Sardinia. Its shallow, crystal clear sea creates a unique landscape whose colours include all the shades of blue, turquoise, emerald green and azure blue.  Due to the erosion of the coastline, the access to the beach is currently limited and it is necessary to purchase a daily ticket in advance via the official website: www.spiaggialapelosa.it

Le Saline and Pazzona: Le Saline beach is the nearest to Sea & Villas and it is part of the long coastline that leads to the area of Porto Torres. Both beaches feature tiny white pebbles and crystal clear water. Here, there are also several facilities, cafés, and parking lots for a fee and free of charge.

Ezzi Mannu and Fiume Santo: these two beaches are characterised by fine white sand and emerald green sea. The beach features also a dog friendly area.

Coscia di Donna: this is an unspoilt cove, its emerald green shore is particularly exposed to mistral winds.

Cala Vapore:  The cove is named after a wrecked steam boat that sank just six metres away from shore, and it can be explored by diving. To reach the cove, you need to park your vehicle and walk a few kilometres amidst unspoilt nature.

Activities

An excursion to the island of Asinara is definitely a must during your holiday in Stintino. The former prison and penal colony is now a National Park, which can be visited on foot or by bicycle. Visitors can also book a guided tour by jeep, electric car or by sailing boat, motor boat or canoe.
Le Tonnare, which was an important economic source for the area until the 20th century, is surely an interesting sight to be visited. Nowadays, the buildings in which the tuna were processed, host the Museum delle Tonnare, where old objects, documents and photos are collected to illustrate the tuna manufacturing tradition and the history of Stintino.
Water sports enthusiasts can enjoy kite surfing, wind surfing and sup in the area in front of La Pelosa or Le Saline beach.
The promontory of Capo Falcone offers several trekking trails and breathtaking views from the top of the hill. There, you can visit the Falcone Tower, built in 1557 to protect the area from Saracen raids.

Typical dishes

The main specialties of the culinary heritage of Stintino come from the fishermen’s traditional cuisine: lobster and potatoes soup, octopus in agliata (with garlic, tomatoes and vinegar), octopus alla stintinese (with potatoes, vinegar, onions and parsley), linguine with lobster, sardines with tomato sauce and spaghetti with sea urchins roe.
The typical dessert of Stintino is the Tumbarella, similar to the most famous seada. It is a fried pastry filled with ricotta cheese, orange zest, raisin, sugar, cinnamon and vanilla.
