Holidays in Budoni

Located halfway between San Teodoro and Siniscola, Budoni is set on the north-eastern coast of Sardinia. The town is visited by thousands of tourists every year, especially in summer.  The marina of Ottiolu, equipped with 400 berths and offering a wide range of facilities, is set in the near the town.

Beaches

– Baia Sant’Anna: set near to Residence Bouganvillage, it is a beautiful white sandy beach, characterised by a wide sandy shore surrounded by a scented pine wood and by crystal-clear sea, with a deep seabed. The beach is not particularly crowded and is very popular among divers.

– Porto Ainu beach, with its shallow seabed and transparent sea, is particularly recommended for families with children. It is very popular among windsurfers and kitesurfers.

Li Cucutti is located between the islets of Ottiolu and Punta Li Cucutti in Agrustos. It is a long, white beach surrounded by a pine wood, suitable for picnics, that offers shelter from the summer heat. The sea is blue and turquoise with a sloping seabed.

– Cala Ottiolu: its pearl-white sand and its tourquoise water make this cove a crowded destination during summer months. It can be reached through an access close to the centre Ottiolu.

– Cala Budoni stretches for almost 4 kilometres and is located just 350 metres from Le Dimore di Budoni. The beach is protected by a lush and verdant pine wood that provides shelter from hot temperatures. Its sand is soft and white, and the sea has a shallow seabed suitable for children. The beach is popular among windsurfers and divers and snorkellers. Several access points are available, where parking is also allowed, with many cafes and restaurants in the nearby.

The small and lovely town of Budoni offers many services. Its stunning beach is about 4 kms long and it is also the perfect location for water sport lovers and explorers: you can practice windsurf, kitesurf, or rent a dinghy to visit the charming protected marine area of Tavolara and Punta Coda Cavallo.
In the summertime Budoni offers crowded night markets and live music. Revellers can easily reach the Pata Club (at just 7 kms from the Residence), which offers endless dancing nights of music played by well-known DJs. The famous San Teodoro, known for its exciting nightlife, is at just 15 kms away.
Those who fancy sightseeing can visit the numerous archaelogical sites, where it is possible to discover the Sardinian cultural heritage, such as:
– the nuraghe Su Entosu, from which visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of Budoni, Tavolara, and Capo Ceraso;
– the stazzi di San Pietro, old and traditional houses built in the area of Gallura;
– the Museum of the “Stazzo” and of the Farmers civilization.

Typical food

Budoni is located halfway between Gallura and Baronia, and its traditional cuisine is based on the culinary traditions of both areas: the most popular dish is definitely the Zuppa Gallurese an oven-baked soup made of stale bread soaked in meat broth and garnished with grated cheese. Malloreddus, ravioli and pane frattau (a dish made with carasau bread, tomato sauce and pecorino cheese, topped with a poached egg), roasted suckling pig, roasted sheep or stewed sheep or lamb are just some of the mouthwatering typical dishes. We also recommend the traditional desserts such as the seadas, orillettas (fried pastry covered with honey), and pardulas made with ricotta cheese. A glass of fine myrtle liqueur, or limoncello or filu ‘e ferru is the best way to round off such a delicious meal.
